Time’s Sky

Breadcrumb Navigation

Today we have a guest post from Havilah Smith over at Havilah the Poet!

I sit here waiting
For this day to die.
Just another moment in time.
Waiting for the night to fly.
Waiting for this day to die.

Time. Why?
Are we all just a speck on the
Timeline?
Just another star in the
Night sky?
Never quite enough to be a
Bright light?
Just another detail at the
Crime sight?
To be brushed aside…

I sat there waiting
For that day to die.
Just another moment in time.
Waiting for the night to fly.
Waiting for that day to die.

Time
Turns these moments
Into memories,
Time turns these friends
Into enemies,
Time turns arrogance
To apologies.
Time makes me laugh,
Makes me grieve.

Time and loneliness
Intertwined
Leaving love
As a forgotten sigh
Lost in time.

But time holds hope
Like candlelight
And I sit here waiting
For this day to die
So I can see the darkness
Of time
Holding the stars in the sky.

Havilah Smith is a fifteen-year-old writer from the mountains of Appalachia who enjoys nearly anything that’s quirky, interesting, or thought-provoking. What she lacks in vocalized words, she makes up in written words. For all her love of words, though, she knows that they’re just a tool to reflect the beauty and love that God has shown us ultimately in Jesus Christ who is The Word.
